WWE WrestleMania 42: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

1. It Feels As Lacklustre As 2025

WrestleMania 41 came and went without actually feeling all that much like the biggest PLE weekender of the year. It struggled to convince, in other words. Some of the matches were great, like the opening night's main event Triple Threat and another trio smashing it in the women's division to open up the second night, but something felt off about the entire event generally.

Creatively, WWE doesn’t have nearly as much momentum going into 42 as it did 12 months ago, so the same thing could happen here too. If 2026’s event goes off the air and everyone looks around like, ‘Is that it?’, then Triple H and his writing team will be in hot water.

They need to hit this one out of the park. It's really as simple at that.

Hunter will be begging combos like Cody and Randy Orton or CM Punk and Roman Reigns to do everything in their power on Saturday and Sunday night. Those guys are gonna have to be on top form, because it's imperative that WrestleMania in execution is better than WrestleMania has looked during the build up.

Punk and Reigns will have to avoid the 'walking through treacle' feel to last year's headliner too. They won't have Travis Scott on hand to ruin things, so that's a good start.
