WWE's Cody Rhodes Shoots On His Final Days In AEW

What was it like to "rip the Band-Aid off" in AEW for current WWE man Cody?

Cody Rhodes has likened his 2022 exit from AEW to "ripping the Band-Aid off".

The current WWE star, who rejoined the promotion amidst much fanfare and made his in-ring return at WrestleMania 38, told Fightful that leaving the way he did was the only real way to go about things - it wouldn't have done anybody any good to linger around, especially when few thought he'd ever leave All Elite in the first place.

Tony Khan's company still means a great deal to Cody, but he believes departing quickly was "kind of the way it needed to be". Indeed, even those packing up Rhodes' belongings from his office were hesitant about the whole thing. Cody told them that everybody just needed to get on with it.

Looking back, the Royal Rumble winner and surefire future WWE World Champion thinks that he went about things the best way possible. Due to his hasty departure, there "wasn’t time for a big tumultuous fallout" with friends he'd made over the years.

So, everybody just sort of got on with things. AEW's product moved on from Cody, and Rhodes certainly moved on from All Elite.
