10 Amazing Comic Books You're Probably Ignoring
1. Justice League Dark
The current Justice League Dark series is arguably DC's best ongoing title at the moment. It perfectly blends old Vertigo characters and stories like Swamp Thing and Constantine with more traditional DC heroes like Wonder Woman and Zatanna, while also incorporating often overlooked characters such as Man-Bat and Detective Chimp.
James Tynion flexes his talents as a writer by juggling the darker supernatural and magical elements of old Vertigo with the more bombastic superhero elements of DC.
Throughout the series we've seen each member of the team brought out of their comfort zone and pushed into interesting new directions. Detective Chimp is on the verge of being an alcoholic, Man-Bat battles to remain composed and study magic, Constantine and Swamp Thing have both lost significant portions of their powers with the loss of John's demon blood and the death of the Parliament of Trees, and Zatanna is learning that her father might still be alive. All of this is happening while Wonder Woman tries to bring the magical community into the light, as learns she is more connected to the supernatural than she has ever realized.
Everything about this series is incredible. The writing and art is consistently top tier, the action is always engaging, and it always feels like there's more that can be explored after the end of each arc, even though each end would serve as a great conclusion to the series.
