10 Awesome Image Comics Series You Should Be Reading
5. Nailbiter
Who doesn't love a good serial killer story? We certainly do. 'Nailbiter' has one of the best premises to come along in a long time. It posits that sixteen of the world's worst serial killers have all come from the same town: Buckaroo, Oregon. FBI profiler Charles Kohl, who was obsessed with uncovering the mystery of the town, has gone missing while working the case there. The series follows his friend, Army Intelligence Officer Nicholas Finch, as he tries to find Kohl. Complicating things is the presence of one of the serial killers, Edward 'Nailbiter' Warren, who has been released and is back living in Buckaroo. Do you want to know why he is nicknamed 'Nailbiter'? We'll tell you. It's because he chose victims who were known to bite their nails, kidnapped them and then proceeded to chew their fingers to the bone before killing them. Yuck! Writer Joshua Williamson (Ghosted) and artist Mike Henderson (Venom) have produced an excellent first three issues, and we're salivating over the wait for more. The central mystery of the story is devilishly intriguing and yet tantalisingly out of reach, and despite the pitch dark subject matter, Williamson somehow manages to inject just the right level of humour. If nothing else, the series may make readers think twice about biting their fingernails. We bite our fingernails. Uh oh...
