10 Best Comic Book Moments Of 2017
1. "Marry Me." (Batman #32)
Batman 32 is the most important single-issue of the year, and yet another reason why Tom King has utterly owned 2017 from start to finish.
Although Batman and Catwoman have been the on again, off again couple of the DC mythos, their relationship was beginning to take on a painfully cyclical nature. Not since the days of Paul Dini's Streets of Gotham have we had a comic that has fully committed to the idea of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle as an item, but here we are in 2017, with the Bat-Cat romance in full force.
Not only did Batman 32 give us the aforementioned conclusion to the soon-to-be seminal War of Jokes and Riddles, but also the engagement of Bruce and Selina too. It was a fantastic twist on the established formula, and took Batman forward into a future that, for the most part, fans didn't expect him to have.
King's grasp of the relationship is marvellous, though. The most recent Batman Annual attests to that too, featuring the pair's life story in a way that, much like Mister Miracle, is bound to leave you more than a little weepy eyed by its end.
It's pushed the Caped Crusader into uncharted territory and, in a medium that repeats itself far too quickly, it's incredibly exciting. Good luck finding a moment better than it.
