10 Best Comic Book Moments Of 2018

1. Jean Grey's United Nations Speech

X Men Red Costumes Mutant Nation
Marvel Comics

Since 2012, the X-Men have been on shaky ground in comics. It isn't because the fanbase wasn't there, but rather that the powers that be attempted to bury them in favour of the Inhumans.

While there are worthwhile stories that had been told in that time, the spirit and meaning of the X-Men had been muddled, and in some cases totally forgotten. Then something happened and Jean Grey, the one that was actually interesting some of the time, came back from the dead.

Jean Grey was resurrected into the modern world with a mindset from fifteen years ago. She gets caught up and forms a new group of X-Men, made with familiar faces.

The moment this title won was not in the fun exchanges between the new team, or the fact that Tom Taylor brought Wolverine and Honey Badger with him when he started writing this book. It is a speech to the United Nations that exemplified the ethos of the X-Men, of humans and mutants coming together. It wasn't about Jean Grey trying to change the world by herself, or the X-Men fighting for peace, but about the world having to work for it too.

There is only one way to do it justice and that is go out and buy the book to read the best moment in 2018. It reignited X-Fans and brought the iconic team back to the A-list, reborn like a phoenix from the ashes.
