10 Best New Comic Book Characters Of The Decade

9. The First Victim

Miles Morales Spider-Man Spider-Gwen
DC Comics

Modern comics have tried - and more often than not failed - to introduce brand new villains that actually stand out from the crowd. But every now and then you get a real winner, even if it's just a one off villain for a single arc. One such villain is the First Victim, who made their debut in Detective Comics.

Their identity, gender, history, and relation to the Dark Knight is completely unknown. All we know about them is that they were apparently the first innocent victim caught in the crossfire of Batman's war on crime. And because of this, they hate the Caped Crusader with an indescribable passion.

What makes the First Victim so effective a villain is their silver tongue. Not only do they turn otherwise good people into a part of their little revenge posse, but they even manage to convince Stephanie Brown into leaving the team for a bit.

The First Victim is a cunning, ruthless enemy. We may never be sure if their story is actually true or not, but the fact is that they believe it, and their mission in life is to make sure Batman never forgets what he supposedly did to them.
