4. America Chavez: Made In The USA

Black Knight: Curse Of The Ebony Blade
Marvel Comics

America Chavez: Made in the USA is a game-changing mini-series which flung twists and turns at readers who thought they knew America’s origin story. It twisted all we had previously learned about the Utopian Parallel, America’s childhood and the truth about what happened to her mothers.

It was a shocking reveal that tore down the mythology around America’s origins and gave us a surprising reality check. It was an event that took fans by surprise and came out of nowhere. It's rare to get that whiplash feeling from a comic series but this one achieved it (in a good way.) The sudden redirection of her entire established history felt very much like The Timeless Child in Doctor Who but, just like in that, some fans were happy where others weren't.

The main question is if these origins might be explored in America’s MCU storyline, when she finally enters in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Have the comics done this to tie into her film counterpart? We'll have to wait and see.

This series is a must read for any fans wanting to catch up on America’s story before America’s debut in the films. America Chavez has become a major player in the Marvel comics universe in recent years and hopefully her introduction to the MCU will be just as huge.
