10 Best Super Villains (With No Super Powers)

1. Joker

The Riddler
DC Comics

DC might not be great at making movie universes, but they’re clearly very good at villains. After Lex Luthor took the silver medal position, the Clown Prince of Crime swept in and took gold.

In all honesty, it was only ever between those two. Even in a battle of all super villains ever, those with super powers included, Lex Luthor and the Joker would have has solid shouts at being in the top two there as well.

Batman easily has the best rogues gallery going, and the Joker is the pick of the lot. His schemes are so twisted and nihilistic, his design so terrifyingly bizarre, his very name inspires fear. Villains are always at their best on a human level; we need ultimately to fear the person, not their powers.

Joker is so deranged, unpredictable and lacks any motivation that you genuinely never know what he’s going to do next. Powers wouldn’t improve him; he’s already perfect.

Set against Batman’s dark and mirthless gothic noir, Joker is an explosion of colour and mania. The polar opposite in almost every way imaginable, the pair form the most iconic hero and villain dynamic of any in the comic canon.
