Cyclops X-Men
Marvel Comics

Warren Worthington III was one of the original members of the X-Men. Extremely wealthy and carefree, he enjoyed his tenure as Angel as he joined his teammates on numerous adventures. But his role as the winged avenger would later take a tragic turn when his wings were mutilated by Harpoon during the Mutant Massacre in the '80s. Eventually, his injury led to his wings being amputated after forming an infection.

Distraught at the loss of his wings, Worthington fell into depression and was presumed dead in a plane crash. But Warren survived and would later be found by Apocalypse, transforming him into the Horseman of Apocalypse: Death. Now with blue skin and metallic wings that could be used as projectiles, the fallen Angel became a darker character. Even after leaving Apocalypse, Warren was forever changed by his experience as the henchman of one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Universe.

And while he did regain his natural wings years later, Angel's time as the horseman of Death and his new look would remain one of the character's most memorable moments. It ensured his status as the quintessential horsemen of Apocalypse.
