10 Brilliant Marvel Event Comics Fans Should Read

1. Civil War

Whereas the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline may have pitted those two teams against each other, this 2006-2007 crossover event pitched everyone against everyone.

After a group of heroes battled a group of villainsthat resulted in an explosion that killed 600 people, the general public turned on their caped crusaders quicker than Thanos could snap his fingers after facing rejection from Death herself.

Tired of the senseless death that always seemed to follow where ever the super-powered seemed to tread, as well as the mounting costs that their destructive path always seemed to leave in its wake, the Superhuman Registration Act is brought into play, where everyone who has any form of power needs to be held accountable for their actions.

The most shocking thing about all this isn't the fact that they wanted to tag all the capes like a dog at the vets, but that it would be Captain America, of all people, who basically said "Not a hope in hell," and flipped them the proverbial bird.

Civil War may have only just beaten Infinity Gauntlet to the first place slot on this list, but there is no doubt that it's deserving of its place as the greatest Marvel Event of all time.

At least, until War of the Realms finally reaches its end. (Hopefully.)
