10 Characters Marvel And DC Don't Know What To Do With

9. Stormwatch

Spider-Woman New Outfit
DC Comics

Because Marvel and DC are the top dogs in the comic market, other companies have to be really creative to stand out. In 1993, the WildStorm publishing company left an impact in the comic industry when they created their own superhero team, Stormwatch. Readers loved the series due its bonkers characters and storylines.

What kind of superheroes does Stormwatch have? Well, Jack Hawksmoor is linked to whatever city he is in, allowing him to tap into the people’s culture, personalities, and politics. Jenny Quantum is "the Earth's immunity system" so her power is to literally protect the world. The Midnighter and Apollo are fan-favourites since they are the first openly gay superhero couple in comic history.

When Stormwatch was absorbed into DC Comics, it seemed like a perfect chance for the superheroes to get more exposure. Sadly, the series was rebooted after 19 issues and cancelled in less than three years.

Because Midnighter and Apollo proved so popular, they have continued to play a role in DC Comics. In fact, Midnighter has teamed up with Batman in recent stories. Considering how much potential the rest of Stormwatch had, it's a huge shame they didn't become more popular.
