When the Scarlet Witch goes of the deep end, she uses her powerful chaos magic powers to change the world to what she considers best: with Magneto ruling and humans an underclass. The entirety of reality has changed, and only a few remember how the world is supposed to be. With such sweeping changes, it would be easy to include the X-men and the Fantastic Four into this tale without involving the otherwise required characters from SHEILD and the Avengers. In a world where Magneto runs the show, and humans are the minority, it would really be a philosophical problem for the X-Men to overcome in setting things back to normal because they'd have to question if it was "right". The lasting effect of this storyline, in comics continuity was the decimation of the mutant population, which besides being a great way set up for future movie X-Men problems, is also another problem that could have the Fantastic Four and the X-Men working together to restore the population.
