10 Comic Book Storylines To Link The Fantastic Four And X-Men Films

3. Onslaught

When you combine the globally disruptive powers of Magnet and Professor X into one horrendous entity, you've got quite the serious threat on your hands. In the late 90s, the villain Onslaught was just that kind of opponent. After mind-wiping his old friend, Professor X became wracked with grief and eventually became the "traitor" threat to the X-Men that Bishop had long prophesied. The threat was so disruptive that it took the combined might of the Fantastic Four, The X-Men, and the Avengers to end it €“ and even then with some failed reboot consequences. That said, the latter two teams could easily be removed from the equation as the psychic threat that Onslaught posed was addressed by the two most powerful mutants in the Marvel Universe: Nate Grey and Franklin Richards. Bringing together the two teams, and having them overcome the threat by way of their sons €“ the union of Cyclops and Jean Grey and of Reed Richards and Sue Storm respectively seems a great way to not only bridge the two series but seemingly to give fans a sense of their continued existence with a second generation.
