Mention the name Black Widow to any fan and they'll automatically assume that you're talking about Natasha Romanoff. But what a lot of people seem to have forgotten is there was someone who wore that mantle before her, way back in 1940, who went by the name Claire Voyant.

A lot, but not everyone.

Those who remembered the original, one way or another, also noticed that there were some subtle strange similarities between her and Deadpool's best friend/hostage Blind Al. And this led to them suggesting that maybe, just maybe, the two were the same.

It was during an interview with CBR that Joe Kelly, who was writing Deadpool at the time these rumors first gained traction, said:

"We were going to do the origin story of Blind Al, and show her as the original Black Widow and show how she was responsible for Wade getting cancer. We were going to do a lot more with T-Ray. There was a lot more in-depth storyline that got washed because we had to rush our other storylines to reach the end."

Confirming what certain sections of the fandom had suspected and destroying their dreams in the process.
