10 Comics Superman Haters MUST Read

4. Secret Identity

Superman For The Man Who Has Everything
DC Comics

The thing that makes Secret Identity so special is that it isn't a story about Superman, but rather one about Clark Kent. What many writers often forget is that a hero's civilian alter ego is just as important as their superhero one, if not more so in some cases.

For his whole life everyday teenager Clark Kent has been compared to the fictional character of, well, Clark Kent. Then, one day out of nowhere he finds himself with all the powers of his comic counterpart.

In the world this Clark inhabits there are no such things as superpowers, and the only superheroes that exist are fictional. The main difference between this Clark Kent and the one everyone is familiar with is that, despite gaining incredible powers, the one here is very much human.

Having an average person in an average world dawn the big S allows for Secret Identity to tell a genuinely relatable story. Imagine this as a coming of age tale only just with superpowers. For those who find the character too larger-than-life to connect to, this is the perfect comic to check out.
