10 Comics That Never Got An Ending

5. Grant Morrison And Jim Lee's Wildcats

Daredevil The Target
DC Comics

There are things that an audience knows will "Work" as soon as they hear about a project. They are the kind of thing that comes along every couple of years and is a licence to print money and gain awards. They will leave the audience, publisher, and creators fat and happy. It's rare, but it does happen. The announcement of Grant Morrison coming to WildStorm to work on The Authority with Gene Ha and Wildcats with legendary artist Jim Lee should have been just such an occurrence.

Despite a somewhat lacklustre start, Wildcats would have several critically acclaimed runs from the likes of James Robinson, Alan Moore and Joe Casey. Despite WildStorm cancelling the latter's tenure and rushing the ending, the book was perfect for someone as renowned as Morrison for taking old properties and making them new again.

And that's just what he did, producing a first issue full of the promise of a bold new direction for both the title and the WildStorm Universe in general. It would take elements from the past and mix them with a hefty dose of the future. Fans were excited to see where the book would go next, and the answer was nowhere.

To this day, the reason for the books untimely end remains unclear.
