10 Comics That Never Got An Ending

3. Jack Cross

Daredevil The Target
DC Comics

Jack Cross is one of those things that shouldn't exist. On paper, it seemed like a book Warren Ellis should have put out through an indie publisher like Avatar or Image. Instead, the book would not only appear under the main DC banner, but the fact that DC did not put it out under the more suitable WildStorm or Vertigo imprint is an even bigger mystery.

Jack Cross is a freelance anti-terrorist who people call when they have no other options. His highly violent methods are usually in contradiction to his social-liberal political leanings.

Tonally, the book was out of sync with everything else that DC regularly publish. The title was violent, dark, featured torture and the kind of brutality one would expect from a book like The Authority or Preacher and not under the same banner as Superman or The Flash. The fact it doesn't take place inside DC's shared universe should have been a sign of the books fate right from the start.
