10 Comics Villains Who Had The Best Debuts
6. Bane
Showing up in Batman: Vengeance of Bane, thanks to the foursome of Dennis O'Neil, Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench, and Graham Nolan, the man who would later break Bruce Wayne's back had a horrific existence inside the walls of Pena Duro.
When his father is part of a failed coup, it'd fall on his unborn child to serve his sentence. After his mother died, he would find himself removed from solitary confinement and into general population, where he'd become the target of unwanted advances from the criminal Puerco.
When Trogg would came to his aid, an errant punch would see Bane plummet from the balcony onto the hard floor below. In a coma, he'd come face to face with his future self, and from here, his transformation into one of Batman's greatest foes would begin.
Planting the seeds for what would become 'Knightfall', this 1993 two-part special explores Bane's backstory in great detail. Telling the tale of how the boy became the man, it would introduce the world to venom as well as his loyal servants' Bird, Zombie, and Trogg.
It would also show how single-minded Bane would be in his quest to destroy the Dark Knight, something he'd come closer than most to achieving.
