Another title in a long line of comics Marvel wrongly and, to be frank, stupidly cancelled in 2017, Black Panther & The Crew was one of the year's best mini-series, with Ta-Nehisi Coates and Yona Harvey constructing a story of true salience and value over the course of its six issue release.

Resurrecting the team from Christopher Priest's storied and revered Black Panther series, Coates and Harvey sent T'Challa, Storm, Luke Cage, Misty Knight and Manifold to Harlem to uncover a conspiracy that rooted itself squarely in recent US history. Police brutality and institutional racism were both addressed in the comic, and while it was prematurely cancelled in a year which saw Secret Empire - of all things - given a full 10 issue berth, Black Panther & The Crew was still one of the year's best reads.

Harvey and Coates commanded a fantastic script, and Butch Guice's art was tremendous. As both a companion to Coates' main Black Panther title and as a spin-off in its own right, it's also invaluable. You won't find a Black Panther comic more urgent - or more important - than it.
