10 Famous Comics You Won't Believe Were Cancelled

8. Teen Titans (Vol. 2)

X Men By Marcio Takara
DC Comics

The original Teen Titans may have been popular from the beginning but the same cannot be said about its doomed follow-up. Instead of focusing on renowned and relatable sidekicks like Robin, Kid Flash, or Wonder Girl, Teen Titans Vol. 2 centred around the children of an alien race that were preparing to invade Earth. Weirder still, the Atom was on the team but had regressed to a teenager because... reasons.

This was clearly not the same Titans readers expected, which is why the title didn't sell well. To reignite interest in the series, the writer, Dan Jurgens, decided to insert a mainstream character to serve as the team's new leader.

Not only that, the readers could vote who would lead the Titans. With the third Robin, Tim Drake, winning the polls by a mile, it seemed the Boy Wonder would be championing the team.

Unfortunately, the higher ups in the company wouldn't let Sturgens use Batman's sidekick, forcing him to make Captain Marvel Jr. the Teen Titans' leader instead. Readers felt cheated and sales plummeted, which helped lead to its cancellation after only 24 issues.
