10 Greatest DC Comics Of The 21st Century, Not Starring Batman
4. Flashpoint
Flashpoint starts with Barry Allen waking up in an alternate version of the DC Universe. He has his memories, but has no idea why he's in this new world. As with most alternate realities, this is of course a darker version of the DC Universe we know.
Written by Geoff Johns with art by Andy Kubert, Flashpoint changes the DC Universe in its entirety and brought about the New 52. Flashpoint has become a seminal work in the Flash mythos, getting both an animated film adaptation and influencing the third season of the Flash television show.
Flashpoint is a stand-alone story that is responsible for giving birth to the fan-favorite Thomas Wayne Batman. In a world where Bruce died instead of his father, Thomas Wayne is a drunk, wildly entertaining, gun wielding lunatic.
The Flash has been one of DC's most important characters in recent years, and this book has Barry Allen at his best.
