10 Heartwarming Marvel Moments That Made Fans Cry
2. Daredevil Realizes He Is Loved - Daredevil
The Mark Waid run on Daredevil is right up there with Frank Miller's original run as one of the best versions of the Man Without Fear that the House of Ideas has ever put out. Going with a decidedly more lighthearted tone, yet still tinged with darkness and suspense, this seminal run depicts Daredevil at both his highest and lowest.
Fortunately, the ending is the highest of all. After being hounded by supervillains, assassins, and the returning Kingpin from New York to Los Angeles, Daredevil - who has been plagued with depression and self loathing for most of his life - finally comes to the conclusion, once all is said and done, that he is loved. This is depicted beautifully by Waid's fantastic narration set against scenes of Daredevil swinging around the L.A. skyline, free as a bird.
Daredevil had been through a lot throughout Waid's run on the character, so it's only fitting that the run end with Matt Murdock finally getting a break in life. Daredevil often competes with Spider-man as the biggest sad sack superhero in comic book history, but this ending proves that that doesn't have to define Matt's existence.
As the comic itself says, he may not be able to see, but Matt Murdock is far from blind.
