10 Horror Comics You Must Read If You Love The Walking Dead

7. Outcast

The other long-running horror comic by Robert Kirkman (this time joined by artist Paul Azaceta), Outcast is the writer's attempt to bring real scares to his readers.

This six-volume (or 48-issue) series chronicles the life of Kyle Barnes, a man plagued by supernatural events. His friends and family possessed by demons, Barnes attempts to find out why demons have followed him his whole life. If The Walking Dead was Kirkman's riff on George Romero, then Outcast is his homage to The Exorcist and its ilk.

Like The Walking Dead, Outcast was adapted for television. Unlike The Walking Dead, it only lasted for two seasons. The book, too, has finished - wrapped up after a modest 48 issues.

A slightly less intimidating prospect than the many volumes of The Walking Dead, this is a different flavor of Kirkman, telling a very different kind of story.
