10 Insane Alternate Versions Of The X-Men You Won't Believe Exist

8. Professor Xavier's Secret Service

Marvel Comics

The one-shot X-Men: Millennial Visions from - when else? - 2000, is made up of a few short stories about alternate reality X-Men, including Universe Rex (a parallel universe where humans evolve into anthropomorphic canines instead of mutants) and The Big X-Change (gender-swapped X-Men), but our favourite has to be In His Professor's Secret Service.

Politician Valerie Cooper, who was sympathetic to the mutant cause, becomes president, only to be assassinated along with pals Magneto and Quicksilver. With the former leader of mutant nation Genosha dead, the position lands at the feet of Charles Xavier. In a time of political unrest and danger, the X-Men stop being defenders of mutantkind as a whole and instead focus their energies on being Professor X's personal bodyguards and spies, stopping any potential assassins and generally making sure Genosha's in good nick.

Storm, Jean Grey, Shadowcat, Colossus and the gang got some snazzy outfits that were more in line with the movie's black leather look, and were the only real organised group on this reality's Earth, with the Avengers being disbanded and Captain America long since dead. Which was kind of a bummer. But hey, the X-Men as James Bond-style spies! In sleek black costumes! Snazzy.
