2. Absolute Carnage

Any time Carnage rears his ugly head, you know you're in for a horror-filled, action-packed story. The Absolute Carnage event was certainly no exception, as writer Donny Cates set out to have the symbiote bond with nearly hero there is.

Cates planted the seeds of Absolute Carnage early on in his brilliant run on Venom, with a mysterious cult who gave worship to Knull (the God of Symbiotes) recovering the body of Cletus Kasady.

Kasady was bonded with the Grendel symbiote by the cult, which not only allowed him to connect with Knull, but also bond once again with the Carnage symbiote, creating Dark Carnage.

Absolute Carnage #1 was a mammoth, three-part debut and features a news report about a mass grave being discovered, containing the bodies of former symbiote hosts such as Thaddeus Ross. Just having Kasady back in the mix was enough for most symbiote fans, but the mystery of why the former hosts were being murdered sealed the deal.

The rest of the event was, ahem, carnage, as the villain gave out symbiotes like Oprah gives out cars. The entire Marvel world was turned upside down and Knull hadn't even arrived yet.

Who knows what horrors await when the God of Symbiotes reaches Earth?
