4. Superior Spider-Man
Superior Spider-Man span out of Dan Slott's ten years run on the character. It started January 2013 after Doctor Octopus swapped minds with Peter Parker and left the webhead to die in the Doctor's cancer-ridden body. After Peter's death, Doc Ock tried to turn a new leaf after seeing Peter's memories flash before his eyes as the two were still connected mentally at the time.
The Superior Spider-Man worked smarter rather than harder using his genius intellect and surveillance tech. These changes allowed Ock to achieve Peter a PhD and form Peter Industries. Once Green Goblin returned, he turned the Superior Spider-Man's world upside down, turning all of his tech against the hero. Fortunately, a fragment of Peter's mind had survived and the two traded places as only he could defeat the Goblin.
With Peter back in control of his own body, he quickly put a stop to Green Goblin's siege on New York and mended all of the relationships Ock had broken whilst in control. The series was a wonderful examination of Spider-man's role in the Marvel universe and how important he as a hero. Recently, the Superior Spider-Man has returned in a clone body to carve out his own place in the world alongside the Amazing Spider-Man.
