10 METAL Moments From Dark Nights: Metal

Hawkman & Hawkgirl are not only former members of the Justice League, but popular heroes who have stood the test of time. Since Rebirth began, the two were seemingly M.I.A until Metal gave us an insight on both characters, and the huge part they play in the story.

First, it is revealed that Kendra Saunders abandoned her mantle as Hawkgirl, once Hawkman went missing. Instead she leads The Blackhawks, a covert ops organization who make it their mission to make sure the world doesn't end. In keeping with that mission, Saunders warns the Justice League of Barbatos, before joining them in their fight against him. In over her own head, Barbatos uses the darkness to seduce Kendra, transforming her into the menacingly metallic Lady Blackhawk.

Carter Hall, the former archaeologist was harder to find. Hawkman began a journey for answers to questions he had about Nth Metal. This journey led him to the Dark Multiverse where Barbatos enslaved the hero, turning him into a hulking bird-beast equipped with an equally monstrous hammer. He is then charged with guarding the World Forge as Barbatos' dragon.

Kendra eventually breaks free of the spell using The Lasso of Truth and with her help, Carter breaks free of Barbatos. They manage to defeat the Dark Lord and Hawkgirl is offered a spot on the Justice League for her efforts.
