10 Mind-Blowing Facts About Iron Man

6. Tony Stark Has Superpowers

For a lot of people, Iron Man is just like Batman in that they both don't have powers. They're both just ordinary men, using their own ingenuity and trained skills to fight crime (well that and their limitless bank accounts and higher intelligence than any human who has ever lived). However, Tony Stark does actually have superpowers.

During the 'Extremis' storyline in 2005, Iron Man tracked down a nanobot virus that can turn ordinary people into super-soldiers. After a battle against one of the virus' hosts left Tony seriously injured, he had no choice but to inject himself with it.

The Extremis virus merged Tony Stark's body with his armour, turning him into a living computer. Tony's new powers gave him a healing factor and let him directly interface with technology, allowing him to hack into computers and satellites and telepathically control his armour, which led to him building much sleeker suits without any AI interface.

Tony would later lose these powers when Norman Osborn took control of S.H.I.E.L.D and he wiped his mind to stop Osborn getting information on the identities of all his hero friends. The brain damage he caused himself meant that Tony had to have a new arc reactor fitted to his chest (designed by Danny Rand a.k.a Iron Fist) to help him survive. This new reactor greatly increased his strength, stamina and intellect.
