10 Mind-Blowing Facts About Iron Man
5. The Sentient Armour
One of the most prevalent questions in science fiction is what would happen if mankind were to build an artificial intelligence so advanced it became sentient? Unfortunately, sometimes the answer is really stupid.
While worried about his health, Tony Stark designed a highly advanced suit of armour. The armour initially seemed to malfunction during a battle with Whiplash but, thanks to a jolt of electricity and leftover remnants of Ultron's AI, it turned out the armour was actually sentient (that's a retcon. The hilariously antiquated original reason for the armour's sentience was the Y2K virus).
The armour proved to be mentally unstable though and murdered Whiplash in cold... oil? Regardless, a simple 'Iron Man has to fight an evil robot' story wouldn't be worthy of this list so here's where things get dumb. The armour was also in love with Tony Stark. That's right, Tony's armour literally wanted him inside it.
The story devolved into the armour acting like an abusive boyfriend, beating up Tony for cheating on it with another suit before kidnapping him to an abandoned island to torture him into loving it.
The armour eventually redeemed itself when it saw Tony having a heart attack. It ripped out its own robot heart (which it had for some reason) and gave it to him, sacrificing itself.
Y'know, sometimes after you type a something, you need to look yourself in the mirror and ask what the hell you're doing. This is one of those times.
