3. Prank Called A Police Officer
Joker loves a practical joke, although his brand of tricks are a little more severe than most pranksters.
We've all prank called somebody at some point in our lives, whether it was our best friend or the local pizzeria. Some of the more daring of us may have even prank called a police officer, as Joker did in his second appearance in Batman #1. However, very few of us have ever hidden a poison dart inside a telephone receiver, waited for the police officer to hold it to their ear, then shouted "JOKER" so loud that the dart flew out of the phone and killed them. Very few of us, that is, except Joker.
What makes this ridiculous method of murder so disturbing is how it turns an everyday object into a killing machine. If you were a child reading Batman #1 in 1940, there's a high chance you would never want to put your ear to a telephone receiver again after this story. Although he may not realise it, Joker may have been the one to inspire our generation's love of text messaging and inherent anxiety towards answering phone calls.
