10 Most Disturbing X-Men Villains
5. The Brood
When people think of aliens in the Marvel Universe, they tend to think of humanoids like the Skrulls and the Kree - perhaps even X-Men mainstays the Shi'ar. However, Marvel's aliens aren't all human-like - some would be better off with a supporting role in Ridley Scott's next Alien prequel then the next big MCU blockbuster.
Of the assorted candidates that could lead their own horror tale, the Brood undoubtedly take the cake - at least as far as the X-Men are concerned.
The Brood are insect-like, parasitic creatures that reproduce by incubating their young inside their victims. However, while the eponymous creature from Scott's 1979 classic would evolve after bursting through the flesh of an unknowing host, Marvel's aliens gradually take over their victim until all that remains is them, even absorbing their memories in the process.
The transformation isn't pretty, and it's afflicted some of the most famous heroes in Marvel's library, including Captain Marvel - who the Brood also experimented on - and the iconic X-Men team of the 1980s, including Cyclops.
