10 Most Powerful X-Men Of All Time
5. Magneto
As it stands, though, Legion is topped by the object of his one-time murderous intentions. Even though technically his powers simply grant him mastery over magnetism, Magneto's powers have been interpreted and extrapolated by creative teams over the years so that he's near-omnipotent, able not only to control stuff made of metal but to affect the magnetic fields of the Earth, rip the adamantium from Wolverine's bones and even - in the aforementioned dystopia created by Legion - killing Apocalypse by separating and scattering every cell in his body. Because they have iron in, or something, we guess?
There seems to be no limit to Magneto's powers, allowing him to levitate everything from a submarine to a friggin' asteroid. He can create force fields that render him pretty much invulnerable to any sort of conventional attack, and his telepathy-blocking helmet deals with all the unconventional assaults he might suffer. One time the fields even blocked multiple nuclear warheads from even touching him, so yeah, they're pretty powerful.
As if all that wasn't enough, Erik Lensherr is a bonafide genius in the fields of engineering, particle physics and genetic manipulation with, in tandem with his magnetic powers, which means he can do...well, anything he wants to, really. Within reason. Thankfully he usually falls prey to said reason, which is the reason he's even allowed on this list; he may be best known for his evil activities with the Brotherhood of Mutants, but he's served enough time as a member - and sometimes leader - of the X-Men to be amongst the most powerful in their ranks.
