10 Most Powerful X-Men Villains

8. Stryfe

Magneto X Men
Marvel Comics

Stryfe is a fairly recent-ish addition to the world of the X-Men, having been first introduced in The New Mutants #86 by Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson in 1990. Stryfe is a clone of Cable, and he possesses the same powers and abilities, which make him a formidable foe.

Stryfe was raised by none other than Apocalypse himself, which doesn't help a boy grow up in a loving and nurturing environment. Apocalypse's plan was to use the boy as his next host body, and as the child matured he showed himself to be a murderous psychopath with no regard for morality or human life.

Apocalypse abandoned his plans when he learned that Stryfe was a clone, which made him an unfit vessel. He grew up to become a crazy psychopath, and his upbringing was designed to make him the perfect foe to his progenitor, Nathan Summers, aka, Cable.

Stryfe possesses all of Cable's vast psionic and telepathic abilities, but his are more refined and powerful than Cable's. He's able to block most of his enemy's powers, including Cyclops and Jean Grey, and via his battle armor, he's almost invulnerable to any form of physical attack. He is truly one of the deadliest enemies the X-Men have faced, and he's been a major player in several events, including "X-Cutioner's Song," "Messiah War," and "Vendetta."
