10 Most Underrated Flash Villains

1. Captain Boomerang

Trickster Flash
DC Comics

More dangerous than his name suggests, the Captain Boomerang persona has been inhabited by George 'Digger' Harkness and his son, Owen Mercer. Both versions of the villain have posed significant challenges to the Flash and other heroes over the years.

A young Digger refined his skill with boomerangs and created his 'Captain Boomerang' persona during his tenure as a mascot for a toy company. The ridicule he faced during his tenure angered him and he turned to a life of crime.

He later encountered the Flash and was able to keep the hero at bay using his deadly and unpredictable boomerangs. Harkness also joined the Suicide Squad as well as the Central City Rogues, teams where the villain built a reputation as an unpredictable wildcard and liability in a fight.

Harkness was killed by Tim Drake's father during the Identity Crisis storyline but was later revived after the events of the Blackest Night crossover. His son, Owen Mercer, took on the mantle and joined his father's teams.

It was revealed that he had limited superhuman speed due to his apparent connection to the Thawne family, making him Bart Allen's half-brother. Unlike his father, Mercer had a stint on the side of the angels when he briefly joined Nightwing's Outsiders team.
