10 Sci-Fi Movies That Deserve A Sequel
7. The Fifth Element
The stranger side of sci-fi has resulted in many a cult favourite and one of the most well-known efforts is The Fifth Element.
Coming from French director Luc Besson, it's very unapologetic about its weirdness and the overall wackiness of its performances. While it was met with mixed reviews on release, the film has proven popular with audiences - enough to cement it as a cult classic of the genre.
In 2263, a hostile alien force is looking to invade Earth and the only thing that can stop them is a collection of elements. The titular fifth element is a woman named Leeloo (Milla Jovovich). As she teams up with cab driver Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), a tense chase ensues.
Its tale of alien war is the main focus, but the vibrant and varied future world is equally memorable. Thanks to its solid effects and a great soundtrack Éric Serra, its vision of the future New York City really comes alive.
With a style all its own, The Fifth Element deserves a second run to expand its world and characters. We only saw a small piece of the wider setting, which could expand in a wide range of different stories. With such a populated metropolis and sci-fi universe, there's sure to be many a zany tale to tell.
