There are several acknowledged geniuses in the Marvel universe - Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner. They are all well-studied, brilliant inventors, and holders of multiple educational degrees. Wolverine is not that kind of book-smart, but he has literal centuries of living under his belt and has learned the appropriate several lifetimes worth of knowledge.

He has lived in and learned about dozens of cultures over his lifetime. According to the Marvel canon, he is fluent in English, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and several Native American dialects. He can also get by in French, Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, Korean, Hindi, Tibetan, Persian, German, and Portuguese.

He is proficient in dozens of forms of both unarmed and melee combat, having studied martial arts under countless instructors, and has either beaten or fought to a draw with most of Marvel's expert fighters (as well as a few of DC's!). His extensive knowledge of weapons, tactics, and strategy makes him one of the X-Men's most skilled and experienced battlefield commanders.

At several points in his life, Logan has worked as a spy; as a result, he is a master of espionage skills, intelligence work, interrogation, infiltration, and assassination.

He has enough savvy of business and finance that for several years, he operated a large and successful operation under the alias of 'Patch' in the crime-ridden city of Madripoor.
