10 Strangest Members Of The Suicide Squad

Everyone remembers Slipknot's abrupt death and status as a 'joke character' in 2016's Suicide Squad, but his comic book counterpart is just as questionable.

First appearing in 1984 as an antagonist of Firestorm, Christopher Weiss boasted the incredible ability to 'climb anything'. A villain for hire, Slipknot was later welcomed into the folds of Task Force X on a mission to stop the murderous Manhunter robots from dominating Earth. Armed with some rope, some hooks, and some more rope, Slipknot was ready to save the day.

However, unconvinced by the nano-bomb armbands the team were forced to wear, Slipknot was coaxed into trying to escape by Captain Boomerang. Realising what they were up against, Slipknot made a run for it before his armband activated, promptly blowing his arm clean off. He was later found alive after the team defeated the Manhunters, and was taken back to Belle Reve where he'd be considerably more useless with a missing limb.

He later appeared during the Final Crisis run, now fitted with a robot arm he thought would be enough to take on the deadly Tattooed Man. It wasn't - the Tattooed Man easily beheaded him with his own wire.

A member of the Suicide Squad clearly intended to be disposable, it's more baffling that anyone thought Slipknot would actually be an asset to the team. A low-rate villain with a weird gimmick, it's not a surprise he faced an early demise in the original Suicide Squad movie.
