10 Things Comic Fans Found Too Distracting

9. HUGE Text Boxes

As a species that communicates through words, it translates that the vast majority of comics would also have characters speak - because otherwise it's basically a drawn silent film. But comics aren't novels, and many enjoy comics more because they express stories and ideas without walls and walls of text.

Well, usually.

Because there does come the occasion where too much information has to be conveyed at one point of the story, leading to a monumental exposition dump in the form of huge text boxes.

They serve a purpose, sure, but they do so in an undeniably clunky way that can disrupt the comic itself immensely. Nobody minds it every now and then, but if they're littered through a series, it feels more as though nobody planned how to tell all the important parts of the story through a mostly visual medium.

It can be done right, but it can also be done in a way that leaves you impressed the artist was able to fit that much text into such a small space, so it can be a real gamble.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
