Noticing the Hulk is brainwashed might be a little more difficult than other heroes, sure, as the hero often gives off a vibe that suggests he maybe under some kind of bizarre control in the first place.

However, things are a little different in the case of the Hulk being under mind control in the Incredible Hulk #404, as the hero teams up with the Juggernaut, who has managed to trick the Hulk into thinking he is his abusive father, via the method of brain shenanigans.

The Hulk barely says a single word to the heroes, and stands still with a huge smile on his face until he's commanded to do something. Even if you weren't the green goliath's bff, it seems strange that you wouldn't pick up on the fact he's not acting like you've ever seen before - unless, of course, you just wanted an excuse to fight him, as is definitely the case with Hercules in this example.

Depressingly, the Hulk actually breaks his own brainwashing when he realises that the Juggernaut is praising him, whereas his own father would never do such a thing - meaning the Avengers are also responsible for that little hotbed of trauma, too.
