10 Times The Justice League Went Way Too Far

1. Tower Of Babel

Superman Earth One
DC Comics

Batman is well-known for his (sometimes ludicrous) pragmatism and mistrust of powerful forces in the League, and it is no surprise that he would develop contingencies against them. It's always stood to reason that his enemies would use these plans against his teammates, and this is what Mark Waid, Howard Porter and Steve Scott's Tower of Babel story explores in impressive detail.

Ra's al Ghul stole Batman's contingency plans and used them on the League to incapacitate them long enough to realize his plans of reducing the planet's population.

The plans are as horrifying as they are impressive, and highlight how meticulous (and dangerously paranoid) the Dark Knight is. Fortunately, Bruce and the rest of the League recover from their respective attacks in time to stop the villain's plot and save the world.

This story is unique in how it presents the League's actions in the aftermath and Batman's overall. The team is split over whether he was right or wrong in developing these plans in secret, and ultimately the Caped Crusader leaves the team.

The League's reactions and Batman's plans are somewhat understandable but they all miss the point of good communication and accountability, traits key in a team with powerful and sensitive dynamics such as theirs.
