10 Unrevealed Secrets About The Baxter Building

7. Reed’s Hidden Secrets

Reed Richards is one of the most intelligent people in the Marvel Universe. He is a polymath with knowledge of - if not mastery in - every scientific field of study known on Earth. Large portions of the 33rd and 34th floors are dedicated to the various labs that Reed needs for his work. These include the biology, chemistry, and electronics lab, among others.

But as gifted as Reed’s intelligence makes him, it also works as a detriment on occasion. He often gets very focused and caught up in his work, ignoring his wife and children completely. He also tends to become hyper-focused on the science of the problem instead of the problem itself. In Fantastic Four #551, Reed revisited an old plan - “Plan 101” - where he essentially “fixes everything” and turns the world into a Utopia. His inability to do that nearly drove him mad.

Richards also has a bad habit of keeping secrets from the rest of the team. One was the creation of the Bridge, the inter-dimensional device that allows him to view and visit parallel worlds. Through it, he met other versions of himself who formed a Council of Reeds, though a few evil versions of Reed attacked his family in an attempt to take over his reality. Another secret was leaving the Zero Force canister hidden in a sub-basement of the Baxter Building. Once opened, it unleashed the Forever Gate and caused the FF to have to return to their original home to guard it.
