Baxter Building Fantastic Four
Marvel Comics

As the Baxter Building is on the corner of 42nd Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan - just a few blocks from the United Nations Building - it is on one of the most heavily traveled stretches of land in the city. Thousands of tourists pour into New York just to see it and, hopefully, catch a glimpse of the Fantastic Four. Few of these visitors make it past the lobby, but there is plenty to see on the Baxter’s ground level.

As the building’s most famous tenants, there is a Fantastic Four museum, with an hourly multimedia show and a gift shop. It also houses an optometrist shop, Abe Shoenstein’s Snack Shop, a visitor’s center for the building, and a Chinese restaurant. What makes this restaurant unusual is that at one time it sported Fin Fang Foom as its head chef after Reed Richards shrunk him down to human size.

If someone makes it to the 30th floor of the Baxter Building without permission, they will have to deal with Roberta. From the waist up, she appears to be an attractive 20-something female, but a peek behind the table shows that she is a sophisticated robot that scans every visitor for potential problems. And as the Trapster found out when he tried to invade in Fantastic Four #265, she is quite a strong one, as Roberta tossed him over her head.
