10 Ways Marvel Are Ruining Comics

1. Death Is Still Meaningless

Death has never meant much in comic books, but it's more meaningless now than ever before thanks to Marvel. Once again, it's all down to their quest for attention, and the number of characters to have been killed off in recent years is ridiculous. They often return alarmingly fast too, and it's that which robs their "deaths" of any sort of real impact. Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and more have all been taken out recently, only to return within weeks or months. A couple of years seems to be the upper limit. Wolverine recently had an entire series devoted to his demise. It was great, but plans are already in place to bring him back after Secret Wars. Spider-Man villain Carnage was killed off in a heroic fashion in one of the best moments of last year's Avengers & X-Men: AXIS event, only to be brought back from the dead that very week in another book. Every comic book fan knows that a big name character isn't going to stay dead, but Marvel have used this plot device so often that it no longer has even a tiny bit of meaning.
