In the 90's, Marvel had the rights to make comics for a whole bunch of licences. That included the cartoon Ren and Stimpy.

Ren and Stimpy was a gross and surreal cult-classic show that paved the way for the likes of Beavis and Butthead and South Park. It featured an unstable chihuahua and a dimwitted cat getting mixed up in adventures like caring for fart babies and digging for "magic nose goblins".

If you're thinking that none of that sounds even remotely similar to Spider-Man's adventures then you clearly don't have the mind of the 90's comic executive who shoved the two together anyway.

The crossover happy presented itself as a cheap gimmick to boost sales and was a suitably bizarre tale in which Powdered Toast Man was possessed by the evil Doctor Dough-Naught. With no other way to get powdered toast, Ren and Stimpy called Spider-Man for help.

The two heroes fought and Spider-Man broke PTM out of his mind control by throwing him into a milk truck. They all then teamed up to defeat Doctor Dough-Naught.

Ironically, the story was written by a young Dan Slott, the man who has been writing the Amazing Spider-Man series for years now.
