In 1992 there was a famous Nike TV advert in which basketball superstar Charles Barkley shot some hoops with Godzilla on the streets of Tokyo. A year later, Dark Horse Comics decided the idea was worthy of being adapted into a comic.

In the completely insane plot, Godzilla appeared off the coast of California and started wrecking the joint. In a completely unrelated event, a young boy named Matt was given a magic silver dollar by his grandfather. Matt used the dollar to stop Godzilla in the only way that made sense, turning his hero Charles Barkley into a kaiju-fighting giant.

Of course, being giant still isn't that much help when your opponent breathes fire and so Barkley instead exploited Godzilla's little known love of b-ball to challenge him to a match at an abandoned military base.

Despite Godzilla using his tail for some cheap shots, Barkley's sweet skills were enough to win the game and save the city. He then banished Godzilla to a remote part of Utah to work on his shooting skills for the next hundred years.

Despite clearly being the greatest comic ever written, the issue's plot is attributed to Alan Smithee, a popular pseudonym used by comic writers who don't want their name to be associated with a book.
