10 Wolverine Fates Worse Than Death

1. Infected With Every Possible Terminal Disease

That a disease is labelled terminal obviously means that it's deadly. Death has rarely been applicable when it comes to Wolverine, of course, and so no simple 'terminal' illness is able to knock off Logan.

In Rick Remender and Jerome Opena's fantastic Apocalypse Solution story from Uncanny X-Force back in 2011, the centre of the tale focusses on En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, and his infamous Four Horsemen. Here, Apocalypse is a child, with his latest iteration of the Horsemen taking down Wolverine and his X-Force buddies. All that the Horsemen await, is the call from Nur to kill these heroes.

For Logan, the events here that are 'worse than death' is the fact that he's infected by every single terminal illness known to mankind. This occurs during his battle with the latest version of Death (Sanjar Javeed), and the rogue fires all of that sickness, all of this pain, all of this organ-devouring energy directly into Wolvie.

Thankfully, Fantomex would save Wolverine before his body could fully shut down, using his unique abilities of misdirection to confuse Death.

Unfortunately, this then leaves Wolverine and his X-Force teammates with the chilling question of whether or not to execute a young En Sabah Nur who they know will grow up to be the sinister Apocalypse.
