Rick Remender and Jerome Opena's Uncanny X-Force is one of the great modern X-Men stories, because it was one of only few brave enough to dissect the implications of the X-Men having a shadowy black ops unit to take on the kind of missions unbecoming of Xavier's team.

Everyone knows that what Logan does isn't very nice, and so he's uncomfortably at home with X-Force. Joining him on the team are Psylocke, Archangel, Fantomex and Deadpool, who actually turns out to be the team's moral centre. Their first mission is no small task either, as Cyclops charges the group with assassinating Apocalypse, who had recently been reborn as a small boy.

You can see where this is going.

Apocalypse has often been the cause of a great deal of strife for the world, and the logic of taking him down at a young age isn't lost on the group. It's an opportunity, but there's also a moral quandary there in that they're shooting first and asking questions second; what if they simply took on the child, and raised them an X-Man?

It's a conclusion most of the team reach after some pleading from Deadpool, but Fantomex goes on to complete the mission by shooting the boy in the head - under Wolverine's watch.
