10 Worst Things Black Adam Has Ever Done

4. He Killed Billy Batson’s Parents

Black Adam
DC Comics

Teth-Adam was born as the son of Pharaoh Ramesses II. He impressed the Wizard Shazam with his good deeds and he gave the young prince the powers to make him the Mighty Adam. The newly powered Adam served as Egypt's champion for several centuries until he was corrupted by a mysterious woman.

The woman convinced Mighty Adam that they should rule Egypt. He kills the Pharaoh and takes the throne. Shazam stripped Adam of his powers and encased them in a scarab necklace. The centuries caught up with Teth-Adam and he became a desiccated skeleton in seconds. Shazam buried both the body and skeleton in the tomb of Ramesses II and named him in death, Keth-Adam or Black Adam. He was so angry at the betrayal that he waited centuries before appointing another champion.

In the late 20th Century, archaeologists C.C. and Mary Batson and their aide, Theo Adam, uncovered the tomb of Ramesses II and discovered the mystical scarab necklace. Becoming immediately obsessed with it, Theo Adam killed the Batsons and returned to America. Their son, Billy, had been tapped by the Wizard to become Captain Marvel. Theo noted that the Captain's resemblance to the adult C.C. Batson and the emblem on his chest matched the one on the scarab. This caused the unscrupulous man to speak the Wizard’s name and he found himself transformed into Black Adam.
