20 Most Powerful X-Men Villains Of All Time
10. The Brood
Chris Claremont drew on a lot of influences during his time writing X-Men, from Sauron's Tolkien name to bad guys sharing titles with metal bands. One of his more daring rip-offs was The Brood, an alien race who menaced the mutants on a number of occasions, and who are for all intents and purposes the xenomorphs from Alien.
They come from beyond the stars, they're scary looking, they're well-honed killing machines and they have the ability to impregnate unwilling victims with their tiny killer alien babies. Not only are they hella creepy, but they're also some of the most powerful enemies the X-Men have ever faced. At least they don't have acid for blood.
Like Krakoa, they've been rehabilitated a little – a small one named Broo joined the Jean Grey School and was a polite, studious fellow – but overall The Brood are still bloody terrifying, and without the intervention from alien help like the Shi'ar the X-Men would have been wiped out several times over by the swarms of pointy-toothed aliens.
